Soup tureen - so-called Wedding starrine - unmarked, probably WASMUEL (Belgium) - with hand-painted violets and two names CATHERINE DUBUISSON and ALFRED DUPREZ.
Alfred and Catherine married on October 26, 1896 in Hornu - she was a maid/domestic helper, he a miner. Together they have a son (Florent), who was born 3 months before their marriage. For him, it is his second marriage - his first wife died at the age of 26 - with her he has one daughter (*1892). Their lives took place around Hornu and Chatelineau. Of course, we don't know anything about that, but the tureen is cherished, and has survived for 123 years.
Height without lid 17 cm - slide 22 cm.
